As new parents, the first time you bring your brand new bundle of joy, there is a lot of excitement. And as most family members have forgotten the long nights they are equally excited for you. But no one tells you how lonely it all can be especially when you are sitting up in the middle of the night wondering what caused your child to wake up, again, for the 100th time! Some days you can’t even remember how many times you woke up at night. Luckily with time, like all things, it gets better. But when you are in the moment it feels like it will never end. That is where other mommy friends with babies around the same age as yours come in. You finally have another willing ear to listen to the turmoils of raising a child. The lost shower routine, the teething, the food wars, the growth spurts and all of the in between. These mommy friends are also there to share your enthusiasm for the first roll overs, the first steps and first words! You make mommy friends and they make the journey seem bearable.
I met Lowell when he was cooking in his mothers belly at prenatal yoga. His mom and I struck up a conversation and here we are a year later capturing healthy, happy Lowell. All the mommy friends, new and old that I have made, have made this journey sweeter and bearable. Thank you for being there and letting me off load.
